The Pacific is one of the region that is most prone to natural disasters and climate risks, which have devastating impacts of the livelihoods as well as the assets (infrastuctures/utilities). Having readily availble infomation about these assets can help decision makers make well informed decisons.
The availability of updated spatial assets data in the Pacific Region that can aid decision making in the disaster and resilence area or any other fields is one of the main challenges. Under the Pacific Catastophe Risk Assessment & Financing Initiative Phase II Project (PCRAFI II), a number of activities have been implemented to help address this, espcially in the disater risk space. This includes in-country data collection, trainings and assets exposure modelling (assets replacement costs) using open source tools.
Served as the Survey Team Leader (GIS) for PCRAFI II.
Currently the Survey Team Leader (Project Lead) for the Pacific Risk Tools for Resilience Phase II (PaRTneR II) Project within the Disaster & Community Resilience Program at the Geoscience, Energy & Maritime Division of The Pacific Community in Suva, Fiji.
