09-11, 11:30–12:00 (America/Chicago), Grand H

When developing pedestrian navigation, safety and efficiency are typically the top priorities. What features should be included on a map to enhance safety for pedestrian navigation? This talk will explore methodologies for generating and ensuring the quality of pedestrian data.

When developing pedestrian navigation, safety and efficiency are often the primary considerations. How can we ensure that people are walking on safe and efficient routes? How do we build a map with features that enhance safety for pedestrian navigation? This talk will discuss current mapping approaches to prepare pedestrian data on OpenStreetMap, existing challenges in building this data, and introduce an innovative and streamlined approach to enhance data quality using the MapRoulette challenge framework and community activation.
