Spatial Data Infrastructure is an elusive concept, this workshop takes it to mean the set up of a multi node cluster for delivery of geospatial applications.
During the workshop participants will learn:
- How to set up Rancher Desktop on OSX/Windows/Linux for development
- The use of Kubernetes UI to inspect workloads/pods/persistent volumes and claims.
- Helm and the creation of a helm chart with Postgres (Postgis and timescaledb), GeoServer and GeoNode.
- Deployment of the same chart on a cloud based kubernetes service.
Workshop is based on work done for the island of Dominica from 2019 to 2022 on a consortium between Kartoza and Piensa Labs. Main engineers were Rizky Maulana, Wayner Barrios, Ricardo Silva and Ariel Núñez.
Ariel has been contributing to FOSS4g based projects since 2010. His main contributions have been to GeoNode, Registry and various utilities like gisdata and gsconfig.
His experience in Spatial Data Infrastructure comes from projects in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America and the Caribbean.
