DESCRIPTION:Geospatial data is an important yet underutilised resource in m
unicipal crisis management. Swedish municipalities face increasing pressur
e on emergency preparedness due to geopolitical instability and more frequ
ent extreme weather events\, while routines and levels of expertise vary w
idely. In addition\, organisational gaps between crisis management functio
ns and geodata departments often lead to fragmented solutions and limited
 regional situational awareness.\n \nTo address these challenges\, a collab
oration project involving all 26 municipalities in Stockholm County was la
unched in February 2026. The project aims to develop “KrisGIS paketet”
\, a QGIS based package that strengthens municipalities’ ability to use
geospatial data during crises. The solution includes standardised datasets
 \, symbology\, print layouts\, workflows\, manuals and checklists\, and wi
ll be ready to use for all municipalities in the County.\n \nThe use of QG
IS as a common open-source platform has been a crucial decision to provide
a method available for everyone while monitoring issues concerning digita
l sovereignty. Beyond the technical solution\, the project seeks to educat
e through inter municipal exercises and prepare for long term governance a
nd maintenance. Through standardising workflows\, routines and data\, the
project promotes a coordinated and data driven municipal crisis management
  in Stockholm County.
