DESCRIPTION:*Where did we start? What has the journey been like? Where are
 we now? What’s next?*\n\nIn recounting our journey\, I would also like t
o touch upon the general themes that have been guiding us along the way:\n
 - Public sector geoinformation as a contribution to the state’s digital
infrastructure - criteria and requirements. \n- QGIS as a key component in
the transition from closed expert systems to an open spatial data infrast
ructure. \n- Implementation and maintenance of QGIS as a standard IT compo
nent for desktop GIS within the state administration. \n- Opportunities an
 d limitations\, but also the responsibilities we\, as a major user\, recog
nise in ensuring the long-term availability of QGIS. \n\nLast but not leas
t the question: what opportunities and challenges do the current technolog
ical and geopolitical developments throw up?
