DESCRIPTION:Enterprise GIS is an organization-wide suite of interoperable G
IS software used to manage and process geospatial information. PostGIS\, Q
GIS and QField are often baseline softwares for Enterprise GIS solutions.
This presentation will cover best practices to build Enterprise GIS databa
ses for QGIS and QField usage.\n\nEnterprise GIS is always following the b
asic principles of enterprise software architecture. Its structure is base
d on three distinct layers: the User Interface\, the Application Server\,
and Data Storage. This presentation will focus on how to build a robust an
d efficient Data Storage layer with PostGIS database.\n\nModern Enterprise
GIS is nowadays built with FOSS4G softwares. Many organizations are in th
e middle of transition to build EntrepriseGIS and some organizations are s
till planning to move from old fashioned closed source software implementa
tions to open source solutions. FOSS4G based Enterprise GIS is commonly bu
ilt with PostGIS based GIS database\, QGIS desktop software\, mobile appli
cations (like QField) and web applications servers (like QGIS Server). The
most crucial and enduring component of an Enterprise GIS solution is the
database. This presentation will cover how to design\, build and maintain
a GIS database for Enterprise usage.\n\nThis presentation will cover the f
ollowing topics:\n- GIS database design and modelling with open source sol
utions\n- Best practices for GIS data modelling and versioning of data mod
els\n- Organise and manage the Enterprise GIS database in PostgreSQL clust
er\n- Best practices for access privileges in Enterprise GIS database\n- Q
GIS and QField related data storage to PostGIS\n- Manage database connecti
ons and credentials in QGIS\n\nThis presentation is essential for GIS data
base managers\, GIS managers\, and all users of Enterprise GIS solutions.
Attendees will be equipped with the fundamental knowledge and practical be
st practices — including valuable tips-and-tricks — required to effect
ively build and maintain a robust Enterprise GIS database.
