Legal and illegal fisheries affect both ecosystems and societies. This talk presents insights and lessons learned from a bilateral project between the Fisheries Commission of Ghana and Norwegian partners. Data from the Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) is used to report and analyze hot spots and movement patterns of the fleet. QGIS supports data handling, workflow standardization, and result mapping. Training in QGIS was provided, and the local user group utilized, among other functions, the QGIS model designer for analysis.
