Missing Maps Workshop
2026-10-12 , Inspire

Across the world, millions of people remain “missing” from the maps that shape decision-making, emergency response, and resource allocation. This workshop introduces participants to the Missing Maps initiative and explores how open, collaborative mapping can help address these data gaps and support vulnerable communities.
Through a hands-on session, attendees will learn the fundamentals of mapping using OpenStreetMap (OSM). While a range of features can be mapped, including buildings, roads, and other key infrastructure, the workshop will focus on building digitisation, as this is typically the most accessible entry point for beginners.
Designed for both beginners and those with GIS experience, the session provides a practical opportunity to contribute meaningful data while gaining insight into the broader role of geospatial information in global development. Participants will leave with the skills and confidence to continue mapping independently.
