DESCRIPTION:CRAG (Collection and Reporting of Associated Geodata) is a QGIS
plugin for geological mapping and field data capture developed by the Bri
tish Geological Survey (BGS).\n\nThe plugin performs three main functions:
\n 1) sets up any QGIS project for geological mapping work\, complete wit
 h configured styles\, forms and a GeoPackage for storage\n 2) provides to
ols for efficient data entry/editing and for photo imports\n 3) generates
reports in HTML and PDF formats\n\nCRAG projects use advanced features of
QGIS forms\, such as Relation References and Expressions\, and of GeoPack
age databases\, such as foreign-key references and views\, to create a mor
e expressive data model than the flat table structures normally associated
with GIS data.\nThis ensures that field data can be easily incorporated i
nto BGS internal databases.\n\nMergin Maps provide an open-source system f
or synchronisation of QGIS project data between multiple users and for dat
a collection on mobile devices such as phones and tablets.\nBy using QGIS-
native tools and data structures\, CRAG works seamlessly with the Mergin M
aps system so that geologists can work collaboratively in the field and th
e office.\nBGS worked with Mergin Maps developers\, and contributed code\,
to enable the Mergin software to handle the database constraints that the
y require.\n\nBGS geologists having been using CRAG in production since ea
rly 2025.\nThe public release in autumn 2026 aims to to simplify collabora
tion and data sharing with partners in the public\, private and academic s
ectors in the UK and beyond.
