A GERS Tour of Leeds
10-02, 12:00–12:30 (Europe/London), Create 1

I'll take a virtual tour of Leeds landmarks represented in Overture's places, buildings, and transportation themes, enhancing these foundational datasets by linking with external sources like business reviews, historical records, and transit data. Attendees will learn practical approaches for implementing GERS in their own data integration projects.

From the beginning, the Overture Maps Foundation has focused on the fundamental challenge of data interoperability. We've been asking ourselves: how can we make it easier for disparate datasets to 'talk' to each other? How can we help organizations use Overture's unique IDs to attach meaning to a business, building, or footpath? The Global Entity Reference System (GERS) is our framework for tackling these challenges.

Dana is Technical Product Manager at Overture Maps Foundation (OMF), focused on building excellent experiences for developers, mapmakers, and data wranglers using Overture products. She leads documentation, developer tools, and user research, collaborating with engineering teams to shape data, schema, and GERS.
