Our open source software community is being subject to cyber security regulation in North American and abroad. Attend this talk to learn more about what this means for you, your employer, and our open source community.
This presentation provides a catch-up on the regulation around cyber security, what it looks to accomplish, and where we are in the roll out and effect new regulations:
USA CISA Executive Order 14028 requring a Softwre Bill of Materials
Europe Cyber Resilience Act (CRA)
Understanding and meeting these changes is something to plan for:
- We will look at a "sensible response" established by several Open Source Geospatial Foundation projects.
- One positive development has been the formalization of software foundation - allowing OSGeo to act as a "Software Steward" providing our software teams a lot more breathing room.
- We will also look at recommendations for individuals and companies that contribute to free and open source software.
Security is difficult with consequences being felt at all levels. Help meet this challenge by supporting yourself and each other
