The first hard requirements of the European Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) comes into effect in September of this year. Attend this talk to learn more about what this means for you, your employer, and our open source community.
This presentation provides a catch-up on what the CRA is, and what it looks to accomplish, and where we are in the roll out and effect of this new regulation.
Focus is on a critical September 2026 "Reporting" Deadline which we are all preparing for.
We will also look ahead to 2027 when cyber resiliency act requirements will start to affect the release process.
Understanding and meeting these changes is something to plan for:
- We will look at a "sensible response" established by several Open Source Geospatial Foundation projects.
- One positive development has been the formalization of software foundation - allowing OSGeo to act as a "Software Steward" providing our software teams a lot more breathing room.
- We will also look at recommendations for individuals and companies that contribute to free and open source software.
Security is difficult with consequences being felt at all levels. Help meet this challenge by supporting yourself and each other.
