DESCRIPTION:The first hard requirements of the European Cyber Resilience Ac
t (CRA) comes into effect in September of this year. Attend this talk to l
earn more about what this means for you\, your employer\, and our open sou
rce community.\n\nThis presentation provides a catch-up on what the CRA is
\, and what it looks to accomplish\, and where we are in the roll out and
effect of this new regulation. \n\n- Focus is on a critical September 2026
"Reporting" Deadline which we are all preparing for.\n\n- We will also lo
ok ahead to 2027 when cyber resiliency act requirements will start to affe
ct the release process.\n\nUnderstanding and meeting these changes is some
thing to plan for:\n\n- We will look at a "sensible response" established
by several Open Source Geospatial Foundation projects.\n- One positive dev
elopment has been the formalization of software foundation - allowing OSGe
o to act as a "Software Steward" providing our software teams a lot more b
reathing room.\n- We will also look at recommendations for individuals and
companies that contribute to free and open source software. \n \nSecurity
is difficult with consequences being felt at all levels. Help meet this c
hallenge by supporting yourself and each other.

DESCRIPTION:A development update from the latest version of GeoNetwork\, as
a 20-year-old project prepares for the challenges of the next decade!\n\n
For over 20 years\, the GeoNetwork opensource project has been a proud pil
lar of the FOSS4G community and a mature catalog application for discoveri
ng resources across any Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI). As the geospati
al ecosystem evolves toward cloud-native architectures and modern standard
s\, our tools must evolve in harmony with it.\nThe GeoNetwork team warmly
invites you to see what we have been building over the past twelve months.
Alongside showcasing our recent community-driven features\, this session
will serve as the official introduction to GeoNetwork 5\, a ground-up rewr
ite of the platform's codebase. Driven by the need to transition away from
old libraries\, GeoNetwork 5 represents a major generational leap. It has
been re-engineered using Java 21 and Spring Boot to support modern web te
chnologies\, microservices\, and cloud deployments.\n\nJoin us to discover
how these architectural improvements ensure GeoNetwork remains the premie
r open-source metadata integration hub for the next decade\, and learn how
you can participate in the version 5 journey.
