Mapping Connectivity: How Open School Geospatial Data Powers Digital Inclusion
07-17, 18:15–19:15 (Europe/Sarajevo), SA01

Nearly half of the world’s 6 million schools still lack internet access - a barrier to learning, opportunity, and equity. In this Birds of a Feather session, we’ll explore how Giga is using open geospatial data and tools to map school locations and connectivity status, helping governments, partners, and communities make smarter investments and close the digital divide.

We'll also explore the power of open school data beyond connectivity: how can we better support disaster response, infrastructure planning, and public health, unlocking broader social impact through transparency and collaboration.

Join us to exchange ideas, discuss open data standards, and connect with others working at the intersection of FOSS, mapping, and meaningful access.
