MapServer is an Open Source platform for publishing spatial data and interactive mapping applications to the web. Learn how to set up and use one of the fastest map engines in the world!

Core topics covered will include:

  • Creating MapServer Mapfiles - the configuration files used by MapServer
  • Creating maps on the command line
  • Using vector and raster data sources
  • Creating WMS (Web Map Services) and interacting with these in OpenLayers
  • Creating WFS (Web Feature Services) to serve vector data
  • Creating OGC Features API services

The workshop requires Docker Desktop to be installed, as a custom Docker image will be provided for the workshop.
