Building an Enterprise GIS Workflow with QGIS and PostGIS
06-26, 14:00–18:00 (Europe/Tirane), Mirusha

Discover how to create an enterprise GIS workflow using QGIS and PostGIS in this hands-on workshop. Explore the advantages of spatial databases and learn how to set up QGIS projects for GIS data management. Ideal for GIS professionals, team leaders, and anyone seeking to optimize their GIS data management.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the basics about building an open source enterprise GIS workflow with QGIS and PostGIS. Through a series of exercises, attendees will explore the benefits of managing GIS data in a centralized manner using spatial databases, and will learn how to set up a QGIS project for creating, updating, and deleting data directly from QGIS.

The workshop will begin with an introduction to centralized spatial databases and why they are important for organizations. Participants will then learn the technical aspects of using QGIS and PostGIS to set up an enterprise GIS, including how to configure and integrate QGIS with PostGIS. A good part of the workshop we’ll focus on setting up the easily accessible end-user workflow for creating and editing data in QGIS, e.g. by using QGIS forms.

By the end of the workshop, attendees will have an understanding of the benefits of using QGIS and PostGIS as an enterprise GIS enviroment, and will know what are the steps to build a centralized spatial database environment that can be extended to manage other data products. Participants will learn how to leverage the capabilities of PostGIS to efficiently store and manage spatial data, and will gain hands-on experience working with enumeration tables (“lookup tables”).

This workshop is designed for anyone who wants to learn about setting up an enterprise GIS, regardless of their technical background. Whether you're a GIS professional or e.g. GIS team leader/Project manager, this workshop is an opportunity to gain practical skills and knowledge that you can apply to your work.
